Coach Darwin, MPT
I used to be a physical therapist. I earned a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science and a three year Master’s Degree in physical therapy. I spent countless hours in the cadaver lab and burned many hours studying at the Barnes and Noble. Through all the study and practice, I become an expert in the human body, movement, exercise, and biomechanical functioning. After two decades of practicing patient care in a clinical setting with wide variety of patients, I acquired the skill of listening, caring for, and guiding people toward their goals. I’ve worked with numerous professional athletes, Olympians, weekend warriors, and C-suite executives. Each had their own specific challenges, goals, and motivations.
But it wasn’t until I sold my 9-clinic practice until I realized that physical therapy was just the tip of the iceberg when it came to helping people recover from MSK issues and surgery. By incorporating influences from other “non-Western” practices and marrying mindfulness techniques with my more traditional training, I believe that my approach is far superior than how I had first practiced. The approach certainly worked for me personally, and not only did I feel stronger, younger, and happier than I had in a long time, but my relationship with my family, friends and even myself flourished. I had taken a necessary break from direct patient care for 4 years, and now, equipped with these new tools, I am more excited than ever to return to my true calling - helping people feel healthier and happier.
